I Hate Airtran

I just received a letter today from Airtran. I think they are trying to get rid of all of us angry passengers by giving us a little something for our trouble...they are still gonna here from me (I actually just sent my official complaint). Here's what they said,
Please accept our apologies for the difficulties you experiences while traveling with us on February 24, 2008...In keeping with our customer service commitment, we would like to confirm your compensation of one $75 discount travel certificate.

So, I skipped over a bunch of "we are so nice and we love you" type stuff...but only $75?!?!?!!? I spent almost $600 on the plane ticket and they didn't even get me to my destination!! Not to mention another $100 on the rental car...geez...they better come up with something better than that!

"Your airline has arrived" is pretty ironic at this point. since it.. uh.. DIDN'T!

Worst airline I have ever experienced. Do not use under any circumstance. If you happen to get on standby, you just as well start walking to your destination.

airtran does not have a clue about customer service or the fact that customers have a choice when they choose which airline to fly.

AVOID AIRTRAN unless you want a "greyhound -without- the- courtesy" type of experience. The flight crew is reasonable. The customer service on the phone thinks they are doing you a favor by answering the phone.

I actually had a good experience with AirTran. Especially in contrast to US Airways who were a complete nightmare. You should see how many bad things there are about them on the Internet

I was smbushed by AirTran in Atlanta. I was met curbside by a baggage handler with tape measure in hand who said that my bags exceeded the "size limit" of 61 inches. (They actually were 62 inches and had been accepted by American and SouthWest on earlier flights--their size limit is 62 inches.) Appeals to the counter clerks were denied, as they also produced tape measures in hand and smugly announced that they agreed with the 62 inch baggage handlers initial verdict. The bottom line is that this cost me an additional $39 per bag or a total of $78 for this violation of their unique policy. If AirTran needs money, why don't they just honestly raise their fares instead on ambushing passangers at the counter? The result is that I WILL NEVER FLY AIRTRAN AGAIN. To add insult to injury, the flight cabin crew was the surliest, most inconsiderate cabin crew that I have ever seen in over 50 years of traveling.

I just had one of the WORST travel experiences I have ever had on the sorry excuse for air travel known as AIRTRAN. From the second I walked into the Filthy airplane I knew I had made a mistake. If you book a flight with them get ready for additional inconvenience, additional fees, and to top it all off you will be treated with a level of discourtesy that is just shy of outright contempt. Expect to
be crowded in like cattle with bargain hunting ghetto dwellers and the severely obese. When I flew, there was a bunch of trash left on the plane from the previous flight. On the return flight, we waited in line for over 90 minutes just to get our baggage checked while every single counter at the terminal had one or two people. We ended up missing a connecting flight and they didn't even get our hotel room.
An apt saying is "you get what you pay for". Bottom line, Ghetto airline for the ghetto traveler. If you can fly ANY other airline for even $60 more/ticket you will probably still save money and be happier regardless.

I just had the misfortune of traveling on Air Tran for the first (and last) time ever. With the exception of one crew member, they were rude, nasty and misinformed. Does anyone know if it is true that there is a TSA rule that says you can't use the front bathroom when you are only 3 rows away and used it earlier? I've never heard of such a thing and when I asked why I and several others were allowed to use it earlier, the guy looked at me like I was crazy. I told him I was just trying to understand his logic, if he has any. Then, they actually had the nerve to send me a survey asking about my flying experience with them where I demanded my $60 back for following their rules and checking my bags after I saw people hauling huge bags down the aisle that were clearly oversized, according to them, and should have been checked. It seems Air Tran follows the rules when they want. I will NEVER fly this airline again.

bbraham, you had every right to use the front lavatory. As a former AirTran flight attendant I know for a fact that there is no rule that says you can't use any lavatory you choose as long as the fasten seatbelt sign is off. You just had a run-in with a flt att with control issues & probably an inferiority complex! Just reading everyones' comments here makes me glad I don't work for that shady company anymore! If you think it's a nightmare being an AirTran passenger, think of the hell it would be as an employee having to work with these people!

As I often fly into Milwaukee, I am SO glad AirTran's attempt to take over Midwest failed. I will never fly with them after reading all these horrible stories!

On a flight from ATL to LAX (AT-55) we sat cramped and uncomfortable for 5 1/2 hrs in a B-737. There was no food to be had. Drink service came in what amounts to a half portion of what other air carriers serve (x2 for entire flight). A pregnant woman with two children had the nerve to ask for more water. They told her there would be a charge for the water; otherwise wait until the next beverage service. They charged us for the one bag we did check. We tried to arranged for seating next to each other, but guess what? Another charge! Flight attendants were like Stepford Wifes and the cain was hot. Never, ever, again!

The simple fact is that Low Cost airlines have to make money... we have got mouths to feed. If you don't have a lawyer skilled in reading and explaining fine print, don't complaint to us.

I don't know why people complain about "hidden" charges. We hide them so that you won't worry about them before you get to the airport, thereby making your whole experience better.

We have implemented a Complaints Department, to help you understand why you are wrong.
